Hi and welcome to my website! My name is Wouter Gilsing. I'm Dutch, 26 years old and a compositor.

I've always been very interested in film. As a kid I always loved watching the DVD extras and around the age of 12 I started fooling around with Photoshop and editing software. I quickly discovered that, although I liked editing, I found myself most of the time experimenting and trying to create effects editing software isn't really made for. So inspired by movies such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean I made a start with Visual Effects.

At the age of 17 I finished secondary school, gymnasium, and was accepted into the Netherlands Film Academy. During the summer breaks I worked at local post production companies in Amsterdam, including STORM and PostPanic. In my third year I arranged an internship at RISE fx in Berlin, where I've worked as a compositor for half a year. I spent most of that time working on my first feature film project, Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. In 2015 I graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy with my thesis film The Space Between Us, for which I was in charge of the compositing supervision.

After graduating I got hired by Method Studios Vancouver. I'm currently located in London, where I work as a Lead Compositor at Framestore.

Besides being creative I really enjoy being the technical guy. I love to solve problems and to learn and develop new techniques. You might have seen my name pop up on Nukepedia or on the Nuke forums, where I'm an active contributor.

My goal is to work on the same kind of blockbuster movies that once triggered me to enter the industry, and I'm willing to work hard and long to fulfill that goal.
